22

Yesterday marked 22 years of marriage for G and me.

We spent the early afternoon watching the Portland Thorn Women’s Soccer team play some great soccer against the Orlando team, earning them a place in the championship game.  Seeing Alex Morgan shut down and pretty much on the ground was a highlight.  (She played for Portland for like 3 years, and I honestly was never impressed with her compared to the other people on the team.  I thought then, and still think, she’s overrated.)

G, as a surprise, had a “happy anniversary” wish put up on the big screen board including a photo of us when we were like 18 & 19.  (He’s younger than me.)  It was an unexpected surprise.  He had posted something on FB when we arrived that we were there to celebrate our anniversary with 18,000 fans.  Apparently, that is true.

For dinner, we went to a place we used to go when we were first married.  He commented how many of the places we loved during that time are now gone, but this one is still around thankfully.  We shared some good food, talked about life and change and upcoming change.

We grabbed dessert at a place we like – and some things the kids had asked us to get for them  – then came home to a fire and laughter.

The day was what it should be.
