April Showers Bring March Flowers

After some amazing spring weather the last week, we had a day yesterday where April showers drifted through keeping it cooler and overcast compared to the sun and warmth.  It gave me a good reason just to stay inside and do other things.  Plus, honestly, my back is out and the garden is going to wait until it gets put back in today.

One of the things I wanted to do while I was gainfully unemployed was shoot more photos.  So far, so good.

On Saturday, I shot over 100 photos of G’s rugby game.  I realized how long it had been since shooting sports when I struggled to get my camera reconfigured to shoot the way I needed in order to capture clear shots.  I got about 50 good shots – 50% good isn’t bad – but even in that 50, there were some that I was on the fence about.  Likely that is more me and my perspective on my work than what others would say – but yesterday, I spent some time looking at how I need to configure the camera in the future for taking rugby photos.  This is where I thank Ken Rockwell and his amazing site.  A great resource for photographers.

Yesterday, I took advantage of the rain and all — and took some of my favorite photos of this time of the year…..the flora photos, as I call them in my photo catalog.

Honestly, sorting out the focus problem I found on Saturday resulted in some better photos yesterday.  I played around with a couple as I thought they would be great black and white.
