Excuses and Observations and Such

on
Well, I have no picture of the day again today. Why? Well, I can’t talk about it. Some of you who I know outside of blogsphere will know what’s going on.  But I can’t reveal it online. Let’s just say, it would be a clear cut path to discovering who I am. Damn anonymous blogging.

Let’s just say, I have a really, REALLY good reason. A really good one.

So instead, I’m going to talk about other things.

What does one do the first two days of a four-day weekend?  Have sex with SG – a lot! Gotta love a man with a flexible schedule. And me with an empty house.  When he discovered he didn’t have anything slated Friday morning, he came to see me again. I wasn’t even out of bed yet when he said he was on his way. So I sent him a text saying that he should just come into the house – I’m naked in bed. I think he definitely got here faster after that.

And don’t worry – you will hear about it all – at least Thursday’s fun. Friday was lots of fun too – but I haven’t decided if and when I will write about it. I need some time to process it, so I may have something to tell later, but not now.

The Talent Show at the school Friday afternoon was interesting. First off, my husband is definitely an influence on his students. A group of middle school students performed a drum line, and as they are getting ready, one of students yells “Freebird!!” I look at my husband who is smiling. His response to me and his peers: Yeah, that’s my student.

Midway through the show, another huge group of his students got on stage to perform a Glee song.  He makes them watch Glee at times. They have been hiding this from him. One girl learned to play the song on piano, another boy did the cowbell part, and the anti-Glee 8th grade boy did the guitar parts. It as great. He was so proud.

Last year, because no middle school students participated, he told his students he expected them all to participate this year. All of them. Let’s just say that most of them did.  He was pleasantly surprised.

And while sitting watching the show, I got to observe two of the teachers being as fucking unprofessional as possible. The cool thing about the talent show is that all kids – regardless of talent (or lack there of) gets a chance to shine. The rule is simple – everyone gets applause – no one gets boo’d. No one gets laughed at unless it was meant to be funny.  So to sit there and watch two teachers making faces at each other after certain acts or exchanging snarky words while THE PARENTS SIT NEARBY and in front of the kids just irked me. Are they 12?? Oh no, they can’t be 12 because the 12 year olds in the audience were actually being nice and giving great applause to the younger kids who were scared or nervous. One of the teachers is someone we had thought Indigo should have next year. After sitting there watching/listening to this for two hours, I decided I didn’t want her to teach my kid. I get snarky, but to be openly mean in front of the kids and the parents shows a level of unprofessionalism that pisses me off. This is exactly why teachers get bad reputations – idiots like these. We’re friends with the principal, so I may say something to him.  I simply sat there the whole time hoping I was the only parent who noticed this was going on. I doubt I was.  End of rant….for at least this post.

Saturday night we are going to the graduation party of SG and his wife’s son. We will be sans kids as it turns out. Hopefully it will be a good night. I know it will be very interesting given we are the only non-vanilla friends invited. Clearly we have become the trustworthy play friends.

I’m looking at our social calendar the rest of the month and…well…damn! It’s gonna be crazy is all I can say. Tis the season, I guess.

Hope every has a great Saturday!

I swear, adults can be worse than kids with their behavior sometimes.

I’m assuming that the excuse is related to what I saw on Facebook the other day- I hope it’s been happily resolved!

    Rant continues…

Don’t get me started on some of the teachers we’ve dealt with. Like massive mood swings, holding grudges, retaliatory childish behavior. Ya wanna get respect you gotta give it, … and some just want a platform to flaunt their supposed ‘superiority.’

    Grrr….

Hope the rest of your weekend was well.

    xx

Oh, you know my history on ‘that kind’ of teacher.. Makes you just want to smack them in the back of the head!!
    Hope all is well.. :):)

There were tears in my eyes when the students got up and sang. The cheers from even my most jaded students were heart warming. I don’t care what the rest of the staff thinks of the “talent” show. It is one of the best days of the year. Everyone gets to shine.
