When I am setting my camera to take pictures in a new place – setting the ISO, shutter speed, and white balance, I just take random pictures until it looks right. Sometimes I’ll focus – sometimes I’ll just point randomly and shoot a picture and reshoot it until I get it right. After I get it right, I will usually start taking other pictures of the real subject – and delete the test shots later.
The other day, I was somewhere getting ready to take pictures. I didn’t think much of the shots until later – when I realized that the random shots may be useful for a police investigation. Knowing that it could help them at least eliminate some things, I turned over about 5 random shots. Shots I’m glad I didn’t delete.
