Day 129 – Japanese Gardens

on
After a nice brunch, we took my MIL to the Japanese Gardens. It’s surprising because neither she nor my FIL had ever been there. Both have lived most of their life here – and lived in Japan for several years when Garbanzo was born – yet never even knew where this place was. The girls has been begging to go back after we went late last summer, so we figured it would be a good way to celebrate the day.

Today, they were doing a bonsai demonstration. It was amazing watching these people work. But even more so was the display of bonsais they had. Some were over 50 years old. They were amazing.

This is the dancing peacock. It was gorgeous.

Sorry for the weird format. I didn’t have a lens with me to get a closer shot, but this is Mt Hood.

The pine cones of one of the evergreen trees.

This picture doesn’t do it justice, but you can see the amazing colors. Between the blue skies and the various trees, it was a spectacular view.

Reflections in the pond.

A mother lion and her cub. Appropriate for mother’s day.

The cranes next to the pond.

Waterfall near the koi pond.

It was amazing seeing the leaves and their shadows in the wooded area.

While we were there, I took my tripod and remote so I could take a family picture. We took a couple that turned out very well. One picture I took of the group as I was getting the settings right turned out hilarious. I wish I could show it on here. My FB friends will definitely see it though because it must be shared.

Hope all the moms had a wonderful Mother’s Day

Absolutely beautiful pictures. We have a Japanese garden near our house and it is one of our favorite places to stroll. You’ve inspired me to bring the camera next time!
