Random Friday Post & Week Wrap Up

The chicken obsession in the house is getting a little out of control.  Garbanzo says we need this for the holidays next year:

Yes, the chicken nativity.  My husband – the Buddhist – wants a nativity scene because there are chickens.  Yes, there is something wrong with it.

Also, I was reminded once again why I don’t let my husband get the stamps for the holiday cards.  If you would have gotten a card from our family, the stamp would have been a celebration of Hanukkah or Kwanzaa. He couldn’t get the snowmen.

In more Friday randomness,  check out this video.  Another Garbanzo find…

This truly is how a cat reacts in snow. At least mine did.

I saw this on Obtuse Goose and laughed:

I actually just watched a mockumentary about the Real World: San Francisco, and specifically about Pedro, the man who was on there who was HIV positive. I had this same realization as I was watching it.  This was the only season I watched because I wanted to see how Pedro’s appearance affected people.

I had to attend my first girl scout leader meeting tonight.  Can I just say that I hope this is not an indication of organization? It started 20 minutes late. I learned not to sit in the back because that’s where the gossipy, committee women sit.  It was pretty annoying not being able to hear because they were talking.  Oh, and then there was no agenda, and the cookie ladies spent waayyy too much time talking about the same cookie stuff they talked about for two-and-a-half hours during “cookie training”.  I drove 35 minutes to this damn meeting from my house….yeah, not worth it.

Being serious for a second, I just have to comment about this story.  Go read it, I’ll be here when you get back.

When I read the first article to Garbanzo, a teacher, about what happened, he was appalled.  Who didn’t notice these kids were missing? Why weren’t the halls and stairs being monitored?  This was a total breakdown of procedure at this school – rape aside.  And now the fact people are saying that the girl could have fought back or screamed or something which means the administrators should not be in trouble – WTF??  I can’t help but wonder what other teachers think about their “excuses”? I know my husband’s reaction.

I love the time and effort someone put into this table.  Makes me feel the way I did when I went to The Taproom the first time with Hubman and Veronica.  I wanted to try it all so I can start checking them off the list.

I read this article today and couldn’t help but think about the Sookie Stackhouse series (aka True Blood for those who watch the HBO series and don’t read the book) and the series of books by Kerrelyn Sparks.  Both involve vampires coming out into the open after the discovery of a synthetic blood. Looks like some scientists have created a synthetic blood that acts like real blood in form and function. Should be interesting to watch.

Tonight, we are dumping the kids at an overnight at taekwondo school, and then we will be finishing the Christmas shopping.  Then, it will be home for some adult fun.  We had some great fun the other night in front of the fireplace on this – a naughty Santa gift from several years ago.  I think we’ll be doing that again.

Hope everyone has a good Friday!

  2. The Chicken nativity is just wrong. Its just so wrong.

And god help the Girl Scouts. Just don’t send Garbanzo, you will end up as the cookie family.

  3. NY Diva says:

    What’s wrong with a chicken nativity scene? 🙂 🙂

  4. Hmmm I haven’t a clue why he wanted the little swinging piggie. Haha. Not a clue.

“Don’t send Garbonzo”?????? Hey! I’m jr. assistant to the troop leader!!!

And, for the record: The chicken nativity set is awesome.

The chicken nativity scene is too much *SNORT*

I did actually watch many (many….) seasons of RW and finally had to make myself quit 4 years ago or so….the juvenile drama was too much for me to bear anymore, lol. DOH! I would LOVE to see a ‘where are they now’ episode though of some of the very early year RW cast members. That would be fun.

If it helps any, I saw someone post a Swine Flu nativity set not too long ago, and I thought that may have been a little over the top.

As far as the Sex…Rape thing was concerned…I have come to learn that sometimes, as a guy, its just best to keep it in your pants.

I love the periodic table of beer and am stealing it to use myself someday. And it makes me think, I need to expand my beer palate. Back to the Taproom someday? 😉

  9. Daniel says:

Wtf indeed. This part is just… BRILLIANT.:

“I know the girl and I know the guy. I know… and I know the girl’s family. I know for a fact that that girl could’ve knocked that guy out with one hand tied behind her back.”

So… The fact that you know her FAMILY, and you’re pretty sure that this girl could “take him” means that she couldn’t POSSIBLY have been victimized. Right. Awesome. *rolls eyes*

And as a combination engineer/beer geek, the periodic table pushes all kinds of my buttons. 🙂 I was gonna be totally pedantic and point out that they spelled ‘Gueuze’ wrong. But then I looked it up, and it’s either way. So I take it back. Lol.

Of 65, rough count, I’d say I’m familiar with about 50. Depending how you classify certain things obviously. And I had about… 10 of them on my trip this week. (4, 6, 9, 17, 24, 29, 30, 37, 43, 49) Lol. It was a diverse beer week, what can I say.

    -d.

  10. Oh, yay! Another game of Let’s Doubt The Rape Victim’s Story. *sigh*
