Day 300 – His Name…

“His name is El Frijole.
And, he’s the one we love.
His name is El Frijole.
And, El Frijole means love.”
Have I mentioned that Garbanzo, the cat not the man, has his own theme song?  The girls and my husband made it up a few years ago.  They sing it to him …. several times a day.

I find a lot of irony in the fact they do this.  This cat has caused more injuries to people than any animal I have ever owned.  My husband almost had to go to the hospital after he got bit while taking the cat to the vet.  His hand swelled up to an unnatural size. Thankfully we were able to get the infection go to away without the ER trip.  The cat has drawn blood at many family gatherings…okay, let me rephrase – every family gathering.  And, he is generally a pain in my ass.  He loves my husband – and Garbanzo the Cat wishes I were out of the picture so that he can fully love my husband.

Today, as I’m sitting at the island in the kitchen working on some actual contract work, I hear this noise.  It’s snoring so loud I’m wondering where it’s coming from.  After looking at the dogs who are laying at my feet, I get up to find the source.  I found the cat, curled up on a chair at the dining room table, and snoring away.

I took a few pictures of him.  Can you tell he was thrilled?

This is his “leave me the fuck alone and fill my food dish, woman” look.
Next time, I take pictures of him, I’m using the flash.

I am not a ‘cat’ person.. Mostly because they all look at you as though they were saying “leave me the fuck alone and fill my food dish, woman” all the time..
Then again, probably why I need a critter like a dog.. They ALWAYS looks at you like you’re a god!!! :):)~

That’s a pretty accurate translation of that look… I get it all the time from my cat.

Haha! I LOVE YOUR CAT (er…Garbonzo’s cat ;).

I have a Siamese that was in the picture WAY before my kids or my husband or any of my other dogs and SHE would like me ALL to herself thankyouverymuch. She’s thankfully learned to share over the years, better anyways.

  6. Heehee, I love cats and their attitude. I used to have a cat called Fang and he was always very aloof, he had that disdainful look too!

Maybe if you loved him more he would love you in return. All he asks for is your undivided attention when he demands it and to leave him alone when he doesn’t want it. And a bowl of food. And fresh water. And your pillow. And some tuna. And the Travel Channel on tv. And…

  8. Funny, I often said I need a theme song to my life. I could walk around with it blaring in my iPod all day. That’d be awesome. Demented and sad. But awesome!
