HNT – Save Second Base!

I run for hope
I run to feel
I run for the truth
For all that is real
I run for your mother your sister your wife
I run for you and me my friend I run for life

 – Melissa Ethridge

I love my breasts, my boobs, my tits, my ta-tas, my “eyes’,  my knockers, my Gazongas, my hooter, my

I chose this quote today because this Sunday, I am running in Race for the Cure.  The first time I’m running in it, in fact.  I have had several friends who were diagnosed with breast cancer in the last 5 years.  Each year, it seems that this race gets closer and closer to my heart because of how it touches the people close to me.

But, I don’t want this to be a sad post.  I know – too late.  This is a celebratory one.  All of my friends who have been diagnosed are living with “no evidence of the disease”.  Each year I do the race, I see more celebration signs than “in memory” ones.  So, I also celebrate the researchers who have figured out how to give women (and men) their lives.  Instead of it being a death sentence, it just is something they have to fight – then move on.

And, as my friend who was diagnosed at 32 and underwent a double mastectomy told me after the chemo and radiation were done, “I’m going to have the perkiest breast in the nursing home.”

And because this post has gotten a bit more serious than I intended, I thought I would leave you with something a bit cheekier.

All the running is making my ass and legs look great.
Happy HNT!
Oh, and go check out Garbanzo! He’s playing along today with a very yummy picture! 🙂

    What a great shot!

Even amongst the HNTers, we’ve got survivors. It’s insidious. Glad to know you’re doing something to fight it (methinks you’ll be involved in Boobie-thon, too!).

Having lost my mother to breast cancer almost 16 years ago, I call myself a survivor of this disease too. I run in the Canadian version every year – kudos to you for running in this race!

You do cheeky very well. And I love what you wrote. It’s such a terrible disease. It’s beautiful though how so many people band together to raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.

Thanks for digging in for cancer research, Emmy. And thanks for the lovely photos. I really like the cheeky one. Funny how I don’t care for too-short shorts but a too-short skirt or dress is… compelling! Very nice!

    Happy HNT,

    figleaf
