…a three-day weekend after working 48+ hours in four days.
And happiness is this:
This is the beer aisle at New Season – think a Portland version of Whole Foods. It’s awesome. And, dangerous – it’s six blocks from the house meaning it is walking or biking distance from the house.
Tonight, I selected a local microbrew called Pyramid brewing – IPA. They have beers from around the world. I thought of Hubman when I looked at possibly getting an Arrogant Bastard – but decided on trying something new instead. (Just to be clear, I’m not saying Hubman is an arrogant bastard, click on the link to see why I thought of him.) It’s pretty good. Not as good, I’m afraid, as the Captured by Porches micro-micro-brew we’ve been getting on Sundays….but totally drinkable.
It’s been a long two weeks. But, after using guilt on my boss, I was able to get tomorrow off. She actually owed me. I mean, I am keeping people in check on the big project that, at the end of the day, is actually her project. And, after declining my vacation request, she took a week off. And, next week, she’ll be in Asia visiting contract manufacturers while I make sure our new system cut over goes well…which also means making sure the company shipping shutdown that will last a week gets done correctly. Like I said, she owes me a LOT!
Tomorrow, the girls and I are going to spend the day together. Garbanzo discovered major dry rot on several windows upstairs. Thankfully the contractor he used for the attic stairs was available and reasonable. Together they are going to replace the four windows affected using reclaimed windows from The Rebuilding Center. We are either going to spend the day at the zoo – or I may take them to the beach. I’m leaning towards the beach – but a lot will depend on the weather, etc. I don’t care what we do…I’m just happy I won’t be at work. I need this three day weekend. I’m about two months past due for a vacation. A vacation I have no chance of getting until after I’m laid off in October. Oh, well.
I hope you have an awesome three day weekend and the girls let you get some rest.
That is a very interesting looking beer aisle…
Have a great day with the girls!! :):)
