Day 102 – My Child

DJ discovered a couple of weeks ago the Etch-A-Sketch that has been in the toy box for a few years at least.  I’ve always left it behind during the toy pruning because it’s an Etch-A-Sketch.  I just couldn’t get rid of a classic.

A few days ago, DJ entered the house after coming home from school carefully carrying the Etch-A-Sketch.  Garbanzo followed her in the house and said, “Ask your daughter what she’s doing.”

I asked and she replied, “I wanted to see how it worked, so I’m trying to clear off the screen so I can see inside.”

She had systematically divided the screen and was etching away the silver stuff.  Very methodically as to reveal portions of the inside.

My response was “cool”.  Garbanzo just shook his head and said “yeah, she’s definitely your kid”….like there was a question as to that.

Today she walked into the house proudly.  She had finished it.  And now understood how it all worked.  After carefully showing it to me and allowing me to take a picture, she took great joy in shaking it up.

Yep – that’s my kid!

Scares the life out of us when they start acting just like us, doesn’t it!?!?
I worry mine will pick up all the bad and none of the good.. Even tho’ I know that it’s usually a 50/50 shot at the worst.. :):)

Oh, I did the same thing, but never had the patience to finish. Good for her!

  3. Very cool! I would never have thought of that!
