He asked me if I had ever heard of this flower.
“No”, I said, “what is it?”
“Oh, it’s tiny little flower. I’m going to go buy you one. But you have to be careful because they are small and fragile”
He arrived back 20 minutes later with a bundle behind his back.
“Okay, let’s see them.”
From behind his back, he presented me with the flowers. Two birds of paradise, which are not small, in the least.
He laughed. “These are my favorite flowers. My grandfather grows them in a planter outside of his kitchen in Coronado.”
I was in love with them. And we each time we are in Coronado, I wish I could bring them back with me.
