POD – A Week in Pictures

I was drinking one beer when G brought me the other. Double fisting it, as it were. Think Day Treat for their study of Egypt. Didn’t happen because of the great snow event of 2011.  Yeah, there was no snow that day. These are walnuts with orange marzipan dipped in caramelized sugar. According to the Egyptian cultural site, this…

POD – Sunset on a Chilly Day

A gorgeous end to the day.  And just in time – before the rains come back.  While the rest of the country is covered in snow, we’ve been covered in sun.  I know I’m not the only one who was eager to escape each day to enjoy it. I find as the sun returns, my…

POD – Ice, Ice, Baby

Freezing rain on top of a little snow.  If I were in Iowa, my home state, then I would think nothing of it.  A flop of a snow event.  But we are in the land of people who shouldn’t be allowed to drive or even consider driving if there is ice or snow or a…

PODs – Snow?

Yesterday I went to upload my POD only to find that smugmug was down for maintenance. Bad time to take a site offline, IMO.  But what could I do. So here is yesterday’s and today’s. the moths falling from the sky…or at least that’s what G said they were last night. The snow on the…

POD – Pulley and Rain

This is a serpentine belt idler pulley for a 2002 Subaru Outback v6.  Notice the place where there should be bearings? Yeah, those clumps of metal were the bearings.  Last Saturday, my serpentine belt came off while I was driving home from a run to the sporting goods store for soccer shoes, socks and shin…

Day 207 – Feeling HOT, HOT, HOT

According to our local weather station located about 6 blocks from my house, our neighborhood hit 110 degrees today.  Nothing like going outside and feeling like you stepped into a furnace.  What’s interesting is that Garbanzo and the girls just got back from Central Oregon which is high desert, and the temperature which is usually…

Day 163 – Clouds

“Roses have thorns, and silver fountains mud;Clouds and eclipses stain both moon and sun,And loathsome canker lies in sweetest bud.All men make faults.” – William Shakespeare

Day 68 – Snow?

Out past the trees and houses in the picture above are the West Hills.  But, you cannot see it because of the odd snow showers that we have had all day long.  The other day, I posted a picture of my desk.  If you do a 180 from where it was taken, you can see…

Day 57 – Snow, again!

I won’t pretend we got nearly the snow Jennybean and others have gotten.  But, we did wake up to snow this morning.  It was gone by about 10am.  That’s the kind of snow that I like.  The kind that falls, makes everything look pretty, then melts soon after.

Day 54 – February in Oregon

February in Oregon is a tease.  She likes to give us a taste of what is to come – the promise that the rain will go away, then she takes it away from us leaving us to take a cold shower (which was can easily do by simply standing outside in the rain). It’s one…
