A Point of Personal Conflict

I don’t like saying no.

I will say no.

But I won’t do it if, and only if, it seems to be something someone really really wants.

Why?

Because if they have to ask what I think, I can’t help but think they are looking for me to say no so they don’t have to do it.  And I don’t want to be that person.

It’s stupid, I know – to be in that position of personal conflict, but I believe people need to come to their own decisions.  Why should I make it for them? Why can’t they do what is in their hearts instead of looking to me to be their conscious?

Which usually leads me to my own shitty realizations: people want what they want – versus doing the thing that is the right thing.

The fact that it is asked makes me know immediately what they want.

What do you think?
