Day 127 – A Walk in the Pearl District

The Pearl District in Portland is a revitalized old industrial area of downtown Portland. 15 years ago, people lived in the Pearl, but in door ways and in boxes. Now, it is a bunch of converted industrial buildings and condos in sleek buildings of steel and wood. What a shift from what it used to be. But true to form, Portland put a huge dog park in the middle of it all.  Why? Portland is a dog friendly town. Too bad I kept encountering dogs who decided they didn’t like me and my big camera. Had two run at me with lots of barking and aggressive behavior as their owners shouted “They’re friendly! I promise!!” behind them.  They all seemed to be friendly, but I ignored them which made them lose interest.

the yellow sculpture you see was actually created by someone we know….he is a very talented sculpture who works in metal.

Me….or my shadow at least. I’m using my side grip with shutter release. I love that thing and don’t know how I lived without it before.
