Day 311 – Message?

I always forget whenever I visit my parents that their how decoration style is….shall we say, born again.  There are no fewer than four pictures in the guest room – this being one of them.

I am hearing a possible invite to church coming in the future. I’ll make sure I have a child with me so I’m not struck by lightening as I walk through the doors.

Thankfully they are blissfully ignorant about the “extra activities” in our life.  And that is how they will stay. Or else, I suspect, this stuff will start mysteriously showing up in our house after they visit.

  1. BAHAHAHA! Are you sure you’re not talking about my parents? I think you’ve channeled me in this post.

  2. In my mind, and it is a crazy place up there –> I have found a place for both. Strange and against my Catholic teaching I was raised with. But, I have come to a place where I can practice my religion and still express myself sexually.

I am not suggesting you should run not walk to any chapel or religious outlet. I am just thinking out loud here.

I do know what you mean about the decorating though. When we go to my inlaws it is the same deal – but Home Interiors religious saying AND pictures. It almost screams – dont you DARE have sex in here!!!!!

What about some statues in the yard?

I like to think of it this way – just because we all might answer the WWJD question differently doesn’t mean any answer is wrong. So I’m with Barefoot on this – there’s plenty of room for both in any life.

As far as the decor… well, I think it’s safe to say you wouldn’t find that in my house. =)

  5. Isaac Asimov had a line in one of his books to the effect that what really separates men from robots is their ability to hold two completely contradictory ideas in their head at the same time and function. I’ve always liked that, especially in regards to religion.

And not to turn this into a religious debate but BD and Cheeks are wrong on this. I’m an atheist and Dont care what you call yourself, but if you cherry-pick the things you like and don’t like from the major tenets of a faithyou are really, no longer part of THAT faith. You’ve created something else. Which is fine. Just don’t delude yourself. As bad as the fags that call themselves Catholic. They just aren’t.

  6. I think my grandmother had that same picture in her living room. 🙂 I hope your visit goes well.

  9. Daniel says:

Well, it’s still about a saint, babe, what do they want from you? Lol.
