Day 182 – Independence Day

on

In celebration of our nations independence, our family did the most patriotic thing we could think of.  We went to a baseball game, everyone ate hotdogs, the adults drank beer, and the kids ate cracker jacks.  After the game (that our home team lost – horrible batting is all I have to say – no one has a good batting average this year), they had a fireworks display.

It was hat day at the park, so everyone got a hat.  I have decided my kids have spent too much time in our neighborhood which is affectionately referred to as “NoPo” – or was formerly “The Hood”.  While their friends were over the other night, Garbanzo and I said we were happy that the members of the kid gang were not around.  I think the fact that most of the kids are non-white would have made their friends’ heads explode.  (They live in a very white neighborhood.  Ethnic diversity is encountered when their housekeepers and/or gardeners come to their houses.  I wish I were joking.)  Anyway, this is evidence, that my kids have spent too much time in our neighborhood:

There were a couple of guest appearances.  The first was an actress from the movie Twilight.  I believe it is Esme, but I’m not sure (to be honest).  It looks like her.

Then there was Lucky The Beaver.  Go ahead, Hubman, make all of the jokes you’d like.  We make them each game.

Then we enjoyed Fireworks:
After the fireworks, DJ gave me more evidence that she is learning a lot in our Hood.
And Indigo – she enjoyed getting on the freeway with the wind whipping through her hair celebrating the fact she was finally cooling off.
It was a good day.
