Accountability Monday and Random Things…

Last Monday, I shared with the world my goal to get back onto the Weight Watcher’s horse. So, as promised, here is my first posting.

Week 1 went well. It’s amazing how much more energy I have when I don’t eat like crap. I always forget that. I had to force myself to slow down a bit when making food decisions, but overall it went well. Heck, I even got on the elliptical a couple times, road bikes with the girls twice yesterday, and ran around with the girls and a friend playing soccer. I’m going to cut myself a little slack on Sundays, but only within reason. The subject of VooDoo Doughnuts came up the other day, and I was craving them all week. So, yesterday, I had one….and savored it. My last go around, I never cut myself slack, but this time around I need to once in a while. It is okay to have a doughnut once in a while as long as it is a single doughnut, and I eat well the rest of the day.

The weekend in general was a good one. Daughter #1 had a game on Saturday and came close to scoring her first goal. In reviewing the pictures I took of the game, I found she was grinning from ear to ear when she was going in with the ball. She knew she had a break away – and she knew she was going to score. It cut right though, so no goal…but it was damn close.

Saturday night was fun. We went for an early dinner at a favorite sushi bar, then walked NW 23rd. We bribed the girls with the promise of Skinni Dip, a frozen yogurt bar they love. Saturday night was a gorgeous night, so it was a great way to spend it.

Sunday was an odd day. Hubby spent the morning doing all of his lesson planning for the week. During that time I took the girls on a bike ride to the “rose park where we got married”. We really didn’t get married there, but our oldest daughter decided it must be where we got married thus the park was named accordingly. The girls had to ride on the road for part of the way there which was interesting to observe. The road is not well traveled, so I felt it was a good road to learn to ride on. Daughter #2 was funny to watch. For as brave and fearless as she is, she was a bit gobsmacked by the whole event.

We got back in time to introduce a friend of ours to the wonderful world of the Bins. The whole good-bad debate about Goodwill aside, the Bins are one hell of a deal. Each time we have gone, we have found a whole different theme of stuff. The first time, it was kids stuff. The second time, it was books and fabric. This time, it was odds and ends more than anything. Our friend was pretty happy with the experience.

Overall, a good weekend…and I hope the week is just as good.
