Accountability Monday

VooDoo Doughnuts is my crack.  They are so yummy, and you can’t eat just one especially when you see the pink box sitting there on the counter.  The hubby tried to make me feel better by pointing out that most of the doughnuts were vegan, but a doughnut is a doughnut in my book.  I did savor them.  And, I chose the small ones….like I was putting the “runt” out of its misery or something.  I tried justifying my extra doughnut on the fact I walked in the Race for the Cure event yesterday.  And, we parked far away, so the extra walk on top of the 5K helped burn it off.  I’m not buying it myself.  At least that’s what I keep reminding myself.  I also keep reminding myself that occassional things like VooDoo Doughnuts is fine….as long as it is in moderation.

So, two weeks on Weight Watchers, and I have lost 2-3 lbs.  I forgot to weigh myself the first day I started back, so it may be more, I just don’t know it.  Overall eating has been going well.  Exercise has not been great, but I’ve been trying to fit it in other ways.  For example, biking to the store is exercise so is walking to the store.  The hubby and I are trying to do that more and more given the cost of gas and the proximity of the store to our house.  It makes more sense than driving.  And, the girls like to bike too.  I look at these things are lifestyle changes that will support a healthier us.
Overall, all is going well.  Losing 2-3 lbs per week is considered very healthy.  If it goes like last time, I may have a week or two where I am closer to 5 lbs, but that should be rare given my current weight.  It is easy to look at a program like “The Biggest Loser” or listen to people who have lost a lot of weight in a short time and think that is normal.  That is abnormal for the average person.   Weight loss is definitely one of those times where slow and steady wins the race.
